After Denis Huseinbasic (1.FC Cologne), the regional football club Kickers Offenbach is again threatened with the loss of a local player. According to information in our newspaper, top scorer Jakob Leimer will sign a contract with a new club tomorrow.

Offenbach – Jakob Lemmer has been the life insurance policy for the Offenbacher Kickers so far this season. Oceania’s top scorer (eight goals, four assists) played a big part in the fact that the third place in the table (eight points behind leaders SSV Ulm 1846) still had at least a theoretical chance of winning the title and thus promotion.

But in the future, the kickers are likely to dispense with the 22-year-old. According to information from our newspaper, Lemmer is about to move to the third division. The contract with the new club must be signed tomorrow.

In mid-December, OFC Managing Director Matthias George confirmed to the OFC that there was no demand for any player and that there was no intention of parting with the top performers in the winter. The situation appears to have changed in the meantime, as Lehmer’s working paper was due to expire in the summer. Then he could change clubs for free. Now kickers may have been offered an amount that made them rethink. It is very likely that they will use a portion of the fee to get you a replacement. After all, it’s also about documenting that you haven’t given up fighting for promotion even though Lemmer gave up.

This is the second time in a few months that the OFC has had to let a homegrown player develop into a top performer. Ahead of the season, Denis Hüseyinbasić moved to First Division club 1 FC Cologne for a fixed fee of €50,000. In Lemmer’s case, there is clearly no such clause, so the amount would be freely negotiable. The OFC certainly wouldn’t let him go below value.

Lemmer came from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016 and played for OFC at U17 and U19. In 2019, he made his debut in the regional league. In the 2021/2021 season, the attacking winger triumphed as a loan player at league rivals RW Koblenz (six goals, six assists). The OFC built on this achievement. After 60 competitive games for the Kickers (14 goals, 10 assists), the next step in his career is approaching.
