Nowitzki on assignment with the national team: the future in the United States | free press

DALLAS (AFP) – Former basketball star Dirk Nowitzki has responded cautiously to a potential job with the German national team.

“Of course I would love to hear what Gordon Herbert has to say. But my environment is here, and my future is also in the United States. After that it will be difficult to really get involved with the national team,” Nowitzki told an international media committee.

German national coach Herbert recently expressed his thoughts on integrating the 43-year-old Nowitzki into the German national team. “I’ve known him for a very long time. He has been in the Bundesliga for a long time. But there has been no contact yet. The former Dallas Mavericks star will be an ambassador for next summer’s European Championships,” Nowitzki said.

Nowitzki, born in Würzburg, lives with his wife and three children in Texas after his active career. On January 5th, his number 41 shirt will be pulled under the Mavericks Hall’s roof.
