North Korea has deployed 12 warplanes near the internal border of Korea. As reported by Yonhap News Agency on Thursday, citing South Korea’s General Staff, according to an initial assessment, they were said to have conducted firing drills. South Korea sent 30 fighter jets to the border area as a direct response.
Despite strong protests, North Korea continued its series of missile tests only Thursday morning and again fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan (Korean: East Sea).
On Tuesday, Pyongyang also launched a medium-range ballistic missile that flew over the Japanese archipelago for the first time in nearly five years. The South Korean military said the United States sent its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan to waters east of the Korean Peninsula on Wednesday. (SDA/chs)
