Air Malta Airbus A319: restarting with a new name?
Air Malta has been in losses for years. The island nation’s government wants to save the national airline through a restructuring and a final capital injection of 290 million euros. But the project must first be approved by the European Union.
It has already drawn up a plan B in case Brussels refuses. It includes Air Malta is dissolved and a new national airline is formed. And the government in the capital, La Valletta, appears to have already embraced the idea. Because in order to make Air Malta fit for the future, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana said last week: “I have to spend many, many more millions.”
preferred name
Apparently, the Maltese government is already discussing the name of the new airline. My favorite is Valletta Air, like the gate Maffeo News Referring to sources in Air Malta. The proposed name was well received. In addition, confusion between Air Malta (the national airline) and Malta Air (the subsidiary of Ryanair) can be avoided.
