The Pokemon The company has announced the release of the ninth generation of its Pokémon series: “Pokémon Crimson” and “Purpur” (in the original English “Scarlet” and “Violet”) exclusively on the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Graphically, the first scenes do not make a great impression, but developer Game Freak talks about “a new evolutionary step in the main Pokémon series”. But what exactly does that mean? What is interesting is the fact that “Pokemon Crimson” and “Purpur” must create a real open world. The “Pokémon Legenden: Arceus” spin-off, released at the end of January, was also announced as an open game world, but strictly speaking it was just a series of several “open” arenas.

What does the ninth generation of “Pokemon” bring?

The game scenes are inspired by the Mediterranean flair of Spain. In the teaser video, vast fields of grass can be seen as well as a picturesque coastline, villages planted with palm trees, desert and jungle.

The three beginner Pokemon are called Felori, Krokel, and Kwaks. At first glance, they are reminiscent of a manga cat, a cute dinosaur and a cartoon duck, not only with their cute names, but also visually. The colors refer to the classic variants for beginners: plant type (Felori), fire type (Krokel) and water type (Kwaks). Fun fact: The original names for the triple beast illustrate the connection to Spain; Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.

This time around, Pokemon is supposed to zip around everywhere – both in the wild and in urban areas, on land, on water and in the air. Fighting wild Pokemon to tame them will continue to be an essential part of the gameplay.

It is still unclear when the successor to “Pokémon Sword and Shield” should come. An update for “Pokémon Legends: Arceus” called “Daybreak” is already available. Included is a new task. A major Pokémon Go update with monsters from the Alola region has also been announced. Pokémon Unite is also getting new features. For example, intense “battles of rage”.
