“Don’t look back in anger” – sang the British band Oasis a few years ago. The song is about a difficult relationship, and one that many Brits may feel about their homeland. From clownish Prime Minister Boris Johnson to a completely out-of-control prince, the kingdom has been through a lot in recent years. After all, Brexit: British truck drivers and even eggs gone.
The British did not get the freedom they wanted
It has little to do with the freedom that many want. That everything would be better without the EU has been proven wrong. This is the result of a decision based on populism and pride rather than facts. Atmospheres are sometimes better at folk festivals than serious political debates.
The UK’s findings should serve as a warning to all the so-called simplistic solutions of the AfD, FPÖ and other populists. However, “Champagne Supernova”, as another Oasis title was called, didn’t work out.
