Nelson Ndee survived for six days on a secluded island off Rio de Janeiro.
Nelson Ndee, 51, is standing on a rock in western Rio de Janeiro and wants to see the sea. Then a high wave rips him from the view – and pulls him into the sea. The Brazilian struggles against the strong current but does not reach the shore.

Jet Ski driver discovers stranded people
It is the uninhabited island of Ilha das Palmas. From time to time, there are tourists or fishermen on the island. But not when Nidi was there.
He was only saved because a jet ski driver noticed him. He still remembers the moment when the wave swept him away: “I hit my ass with a stone. Then I tried to get away from the rock so that I wouldn’t run into it again and swim more into the sea ».
Neddy, a trained gardener, initially resided in a cave. The next day he discovers a temporary shelter on the deserted island. He suspects that it was built by local fishermen who were not on the island.
He ate two lemons, he found two bottles of water
“I found two lemons there and two bottles of water,” he says. Eat lemon with peel, divide the bottles of water. Fortunately for him, he also found a blanket there. He also tried to eat coal and drink salt water.
Ilha das Palmas island is within sight of the beaches. But the people on the other side couldn’t see it. He states that he also tried to draw attention to himself with the blanket.
Then try to go back to swimming. Without avail. The pictures show the back is completely scratched. He says, “There was a moment when I allowed myself to get carried away. I said to myself, God has to do with me now what he wants, he can take me too.”
Picked up by helicopter from the island
Nelson swam dewy again. Then, on August 14, the sixth day on the deserted island, he was discovered by a jet ski driver. Nidi was flown to a base in Guarteba in a fire service helicopter. He was then transferred to Lourenço Jorge Hospital in Barra da Tijuca. He is fine now. (European Union)
