Volleyball: Schönenwerd is still missing a win

Volley Schönenwerd is still missing a win to defend their title. Solothurn beat Vole Amriswil 3-2 in the third match against their home team and took a 2-1 lead in the final series. The start of the match was a complete failure for last year's champions. Ameryswell's visitors led 2-0 in sets and sniffed the break. Taking the defeat into account, the home team turned things around. Led by the outstanding Mahela Indeewara, Schönenwerd stuck his head out of the hoop and equalized again in set 4 despite trailing by 14:19. In the fifth round, the team used the first match point and won in 23:25, 14:25, 25:21, 30:28, 15:12. The fourth match of the final will be played on Thursday in Ameryswil (live on SRF Zwei from 7:20pm).

Winding: The perfect start for the mixed duo

Swiss curlers made a successful start to the World Mixed Doubles Championships in Östersund, Sweden. Breyer and Yannick Schwaller won both matches on Saturday. The Swiss champion started by beating France 8-4, then beat Italy by the same score. Stefania Constantini, who surprisingly became the Olympic champion in Beijing in 2022 with another partner, plays for Italy. The Swiss tandem defeated the French team with a score of 6:1 in the second half of the match. The French surrendered after seven of eight ends. In their only match on Sunday, Schwaler/Schwaler will face a German team that is also undefeated.
