Basketball: USA in Paris, perhaps with a choice of stars
The preliminary U.S. squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics looks like an all-star selection. The initial list of the American Basketball Association, consisting of 41 players, includes LeBron James and Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns, and Los Angeles Clippers professionals Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, in addition to Joel Embiid from Philadelphia. 76ers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Durant could become the first basketball player to become an Olympic champion for a fourth time.
Basketball: Milwaukee fires coach Griffin
The Milwaukee Bucks, the star of the American Professional Basketball League, announced the sudden dismissal of its coach, Adrian Griffin. Star Giannis Antetokounmpo's team occupies second place in the Eastern Conference after winning 30:13 after 43 games. General manager John Horst said in a club statement: “This was a difficult decision we had to make during the season.” Until a successor is found, current Griffin assistant Joe Prunty will serve as interim coach. According to American media reports, Doc Rivers is scheduled to succeed Griffin.
