Model 3 release order halted . Tesla has US delivery issues

Request to freeze version 3
Tesla has delivery problems in the US

Tesla customers in the US cannot currently order the Model 3 mid-range. Elon Musk justifies stopping the request with the long waiting list. However, customers will have to wait longer to get another model.

Tesla will temporarily no longer offer the Model 3 in North America in the mid-range variant. CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter that the waiting list is too long. The release will be introduced again when production increases. However, there is a certain inconsistency, Tsalamagh says.

In the North American component of Tesla, the Model 3 can only be ordered as a base or performance version, i.e. no longer a “long range”. The middle model 3 is still shown in the configurator, but can no longer be selected. It is now among the other two variants with the note “Available in 2023”.

Teslamag rates the decision as surprising, because the estimated delivery times for the Model Y mentioned in the configurator go much further in the future. As for the “Model Y Performance,” Tesla announced US deliveries in September, but as a “long-range” it should be available in January at the earliest, probably not until July. In China, the mid-size Model 3 disappeared from the Component without comment a year ago and hasn’t returned yet, Tesla experts wrote.

So the Model 3 is only offered in a true base version with a smaller battery and rear motor. Model Y, Model S and Model X have the same battery but a more powerful motor in the software. With the Model 3, there’s now a gap in the middle, while Tesla doesn’t offer an entry-level version for the other three models.
