The European Union abolished roaming charges in 2017. Although the country from Brexit is not part of the European Union, it continues to apply in Great Britain. That is the result of a DPA survey.

Despite Brexit, UK travelers with German mobile phone deals no longer have to worry about roaming charges. This is the result of a survey conducted by the German Press Agency among mobile phone providers.

Although the UK actually withdrew from the EU roaming regulation with Brexit, both providers initially did not charge extra for the use of mobile data in their respective foreign countries. In Great Britain, both Vodafone and provider EE have announced that they intend to change this again from January 2022. Free roaming is only available at certain rates in EU countries.

From Vodafone In Germany, however, it was said that there was no plan to raise roaming charges again in Great Britain. Deutsche Telecom customers need not fear any additional costs. According to the companies, the same will be true of O2 and 1 & 1 until the end of this year. However, providers wanted to keep it open to see if it would still apply after 2021. It depends on the negotiations with the roaming partners, which is on demand. You will inform your customers in a timely manner.

Roaming charges in the EU were abolished in 2017. Since then, European mobile phone users have been able to make phone calls or browse the Internet, often without the hassle of vacations. So far, this also applies to the UK, despite Brexit, which was finally divorced from the EU at the end of the year.
