AC Milan could not beat defending champion Inter 1:1 and missed the jump to the top of the Serie A table.
The basics in brief
- Milan got no more than 1-1 in the derby against Inter.
- Stefano Pioli’s team missed the jump to first place
In the city’s duel with defending champion Inter, the football team of coach Stefano Pioli came only 1: 1 (1: 1) and could not use the error of the table leaders SSC Napoli with the same number of points. Napoli had previously played 1-1 against Hellas Verona.
Milan was twice lucky in the draw. Hakan Calhanoglu (11th minute), who played for Milan for four years, gave Inter the lead with a penalty kick inflicted by himself.
But Inter defender Stephan de Vrij (17) equalized with an own goal. Ten minutes later, De Vrij’s teammate Lautaro Martinez failed with another penalty kick against substitute goalkeeper Ciprien Tatarusano.
In the latter stages, the AC team missed some scoring chances. Substitute Alexis Sailemakers was the best who hit the post in the 90th minute.
