430 immigrants crossed the English Channel today
The British government announces a new daily increase. Summer weather is probably one of the reasons why people dare to cross the rubber ditches dangerously.

At least 430 immigrants crossed the English Channel and headed for Great Britain on Monday. As the British government announced in September 2020, this number had surpassed the previous daily maximum of 416 in September 2020.
Since the beginning of 2020, the number of migrants has been increasing, often crossing the water in congested rubber ditches. Especially when the summer weather is favorable, large numbers of people go to dangerous crossings.
On Monday, a rubber boat carrying about 50 people, including women and small children, reached the coast of Kent in southern England. When they came ashore, some of them happily threw up their hands.
The previous record was set in September 2020.

Last year, about 8,500 people came across the English Channel in Great Britain, according to the government. Most immigrants begin their perilous journey in France. However, both governments are discussing solutions to the problem.
Great Britain now wants to take action against illegal immigration with a new law. The maximum penalty for immigrants entering the UK illegally will be increased from six months to four years. Criminals kidnappers face life sentences. “The law will finally address the issues that led to the breakdown of the illegal immigration system,” Home Minister Priti Patel told parliament on Monday.
