Metroid Fusion: The GBA classic comes to Switch

After the release of Metroid Prime Remastered for Switch, fans of the franchise can now look forward to another classic on the current console: Metroid Fusion is also coming to the current platform – thanks to Switch Online.

It wasn’t long ago that Nintendo promised Game Boy titles for its Switch Online + Expansion Pass service in the future – and as part of that, the Metroid classic is now coming to the current console. Next week, the GBA Metroid Fusion title will be available via the service to subscribers.

Originally released in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance, the classic game will then be available for download on Nintendo Switch Online on March 9, 2023. With this, Nintendo once again celebrates the release of Metroid Prime Remastered last month. The classic GBA is a 2D series in which you branch out again into the role of Samus Aran.

The gameplay in Metroid Fusion is completely different from other Metroid games. On a hostile planet, you are investigating a massive research facility infested with x-parasites. You should now master this menace on the SR388, where you should also have several power-ups available to you.

Metroid Fusion is a huge advance in 2D design from Super Metroid. The title was released the same day as Metroid Prime; Both addresses are also linked. It remains to be seen if this connection will also be available on Switch in the future, now that Metroid Fusion will also soon be available thanks to Switch Online.

The bottom line is that all major parts of the Metroid series can now be played on the Switch. Ranging from Metroid on the NES to Metroid 2: Return of Samus from the Game Boy to Super Metroid on the SNES and most recently Metroid Fusion and Metroid Dead on the Switch, all the titles are available now.
