Technical cyclist Fiona Merck from RMSV Bad Schussenried made a convincing debut at the German School Indoor Cycling Championships in Worms. She placed fifth with what was said to be a perfect freestyle. VfH Worms, together with RV Mainz-Ebersheim and RV Mainz-Hechtsheim, organized student championships in the arts of cycling, unicycle, bicycle ball and cycling polo. According to RMSV, the event was well organized and the educational center's sports hall was sold out on both days.

High concentration freestyle

In the individual discipline, Fiona Merck competed in the first group in the early morning. In a starting field of 22 total athletes, she started in 15th place with a suggested score of 88.40. According to RMSV, their goal was to qualify without any major deductions and finish in the top ten. Previous entry times were almost perfect. Merck also showed a very focused freestyle in competition.

She mastered some of the insecurities on the ride seat climb back and in the transition from ride seat climber to head tube climber with flying colors and her nerves remained strong until the end. With just 5.56 points deducted, she achieved a new personal best of 82.84 points. It made its way to fifth place.

Rudkowski takes the title

Maja Rudkowski (Liemer RC/105.26 points) became German champion ahead of Sofia Halter (RSV Erlenbach/102.04) and Marlene Engelkemeyer (RSV-Tempo-Lieme/94.25).
