Meghan Markle didn’t want royal rules for her kids

Meghan Markle, 41, had high hopes for life in the palace. But the opposite happened – the Duchess was deeply disappointed.

In Tom Quinn’s new book Gilded Youth – An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, a former royal advisor gives us the inside scoop.

A former employee revealed: “I don’t think there has been a larger gap in history between what someone expects when they become a member of the royal family and what they actually experience.”

Meghan Markle hated being controlled by royal protocol. She did not understand why she had to announce in advance that she was leaving the palace and where she was going. Prince Harry’s wife, 38, found it “ridiculous”.

She also saw her freedom severely restricted. The former actress didn’t want to do that to her offspring. “Meghan wants something different for her children. She wants American freedom: to do and say what she wants and go where she wants.”

On the other hand, William (40) and Kate (41) would have accepted the strict rules, the former consultant continued. “That’s why George, Louis and Charlotte are so traditional and look like they’re from the ’50s.”
