KIIT which is considered a university, Bhubaneswar has been ranked as the 8th best university in the world in the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022 for astonishing progress in “Reducing Inequality”.
Achieving gender equality is one of the main criteria of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The London-based Times Higher Education, which ranks institutes and universities each year according to a variety of criteria, including the famous “World University Rankings”, published its latest report on the Impact Rankings for 2022 on April 28.
In the impact rankings, universities’ commitment to sustainability was assessed in four main areas: research, management, public relations, and teaching.
KIIT was just one of the few Indian universities that made it into the list. Eighth place is recognition of their commitment to excellence in all academic areas. KIIT’s high score also reflects its social responsibility and impactful contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals.

While KIIT is ranked eighth globally in “reducing inequalities,” it is ranked among 1,500 universities out of 106 for other SDGs such as “quality education,” “peace, justice, and strong institutions,” and “partnership for the goals.” range 101-200. It achieved an overall position in the 201-300 range in the world rankings.

The university was founded in the year 1992/1993 by Prof. Samantha, an eminent teacher and social activist. It started modestly as a vocational training center. But its principles and core belief in making quality education accessible to all made it a desirable destination for higher study.
