Major outages of several Apple services

On Friday night, many Apple services experienced major disruption. Content offerings and iCloud services including email were affected. Users cannot access the usual view over a longer period of time. At the same time, there were also offers for developers who were unable to sign their apps or put them on the App Store. The problems are said to have receded in the meantime — at least that’s what Apple says on their system status websites. Sometimes, however, downstream problems can arise.

According to Apple, the outage began on Thursday around 9:55 PM CET. However, there have been previous reports of problems. With content services, almost everything was flat: be it Apple Music, Apple TV + (including channels), Apple Fitness + or Game Center. The App Store either didn’t respond or only responded hesitantly, although Apple didn’t provide any information about this afterward. With iCloud services, at least Mail, Calendar, and Contacts are disabled, as is iWork collaboration. Finally, business services (Basics, Principal) and educational services (School Principal, Schoolwork) do not work.

According to Apple, the outage was fixed within an hour, but in practice there were connection problems until the following Friday morning. Apple has not yet provided any information about what the problem is. According to the information received so far, “some” users have been affected – but perhaps almost all of them. The error pattern has been described as “slow or not being served”.

Developers faced their own problems. Most of the App Store Connect services were affected here – from the API to the web portal to the Testflight beta environment. Podcast publishing and new music (Apple Music for Artists) has also been disabled (the latter due to planned maintenance), as has the Developer ID Notary Service, which is used to sign apps. The failures are said to have been shorter than the end customer offerings, allegedly only 20 to 40 minutes long, depending on the service. It started after 10 p.m.

If you want to know if there is currently a problem with Apple services, you can find information about the Own website for end customers Beside for developers. The problem: information often appears after a long delay or later. progress like Down detectors react fasterbecause it is user-created.
