The Magen David Adom case around musician Gil Ofarim, 39, is becoming increasingly dubious. What happened? Ofrim said in an Instagram video that he was denied check-in at the Westin Hotel in Leipzig on the evening of October 4 due to his Star of David streak. “Pack the star,” he would have said to both the man in the background and the clerk at the property.
Surveillance footage was released last week showing that the aforementioned series was not seen in Ofrim at all. Now the singer is more sad.
The witness takes the hotel under protection: “Couldn’t check in because something was broken”(00:13)
Ofrim sought conflict
As reported by the Zeit newspaper, none of the witnesses questioned by the law firm Pauka & Link noticed anti-Semitic insults that evening. On the contrary, it is said that the musician sought to quarrel with the hotel employee, since the latter is said to treat other customers preferentially. The law firm is investigating on behalf of the hotel as well as the attorney general’s office in the alleged racism case.
Did Ofrim feel insulted in his honor and wanted to destroy the luxury hotel in Leipzig? As confirmed by witnesses, the musician was said to have threatened the employee during the dispute to upload a video on Instagram that would go viral.
He said and did! Ofrim published its statement on the Internet on the fifth of October. It has now been viewed more than 3.8 million times and has been commented on by over 23,000 people. Ofrim has not yet responded to the law firm’s final report. (fmü)
