Kate Winslet Pays Energy Bill for Sick Woman in Scotland

Tillicoldry. Hollywood star Kate Winslet, 47, is helping a family with a terminally ill girl in Scotland as they face rising energy costs. The British actress (“The Reader”) donated £17,000 (€19,400) to a fundraiser for 12-year-old Freya, PA news agency reported on Saturday. The girl, from Tillicoldry, is blind, unable to communicate and requires 24-hour home care and oxygen.

Mother Carolyn Hunter (49) started the fundraising campaign a few days ago. Because of Freya she couldn’t reduce her energy use, she justified her efforts. He faces a bill of £17,000 in 2023, nearly doubling due to rising electricity and gas prices. The donation has already surpassed the target of £20,000. “When I heard about the money, I was in tears,” Caroline Hunter told the BBC.

Later this year, British broadcaster Channel 4 plans to show the movie “I Am Ruth,” in which Winslet stars with her daughter Mia Threbleton, 22. The Oscar winner also co-wrote the film, which deals with mentally challenged youth in England.
