Switzerland and Great Britain are planning an “ambitious agreement”
The new free trade agreement between the two countries is said to include services. The Swiss President also met with Queen Elizabeth II.
Switzerland and Great Britain are targeting an ambitious free trade agreement. The announcement was made by British officials on Thursday after a meeting between Federal President Ignacio Casis and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London.
According to British officials, the agreement should include services, uplift the two economies and “show the world what is possible between two like – minded and innovative democracies.”
Prior to Brexit, relations between Switzerland and Great Britain were largely based on bilateral agreements with the European Union. Since the UK’s exit from the European Union, there has been a separate trade agreement between Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
In addition to Prime Minister Johnson, President Cassis also met with Secretary of State Elizabeth Truss. He was received by Queen Elizabeth II of Britain.
