In fact, there is only one interesting question ahead of the ATP Cup: Will Novak Djokovic compete in the Australian Open?
The organizers of the ATP Cup received a number of cancellations, Austria completely withdrew, and defending champion Russia entered the world rankings with number 167. The biggest problem in the world of tennis is that Serbia will have to dispense with its star.
The question of whether Novak Djokovic is coming to Australia has been on the scene for weeks. The 20-time Grand Slam champion does not comment on it and thus it raises speculation. Djokovic did not disclose his vaccination status. But he only comes to Melbourne vaccinated or with a special permit.
Lajovic doesn’t know anything either
It was reported in a local newspaper in Belgrade that he refused. Other reports say the opposite. Djokovic’s compatriots didn’t go into detail either. He doesn’t know why, Dusan Lajovic said, “maybe the ATP knows him. Novak is waiting for a decision.”
Lagovich did not know (or said) any decision. Speculation will continue until Djokovic or Tennis Australia announce themselves to enter the record-breaking winner in Melbourne.
