The British singer is back with a new album. It tells how the songs on it came about.
After a five-year hiatus, British singer Rita Ora is back with her new album You & I. Known for her catchy, raspy vocals, the 32-year-old delivers a collection of love-filled songs. “I wrote all the songs,” she reveals in “Faces and Stories.”
She co-wrote all of the songs.
The album, which she released on July 14, 2023, contains personal and heartwarming messages addressed to anyone who would like a warm, loving hug.
Words written with a hangover
The singer wrote one of those songs the day after she married 47-year-old film director Taika Waititi. She let the emotions after her big day pour into her new album. This is despite the fact that she was having a hangover: “I don’t really know why, but the next day I had a hangover. Then I wrote a song.” The song became her wedding song.
Husband Waititi has been a great support throughout the album process. The two are very similar, even though they work in different industries.
No less important is Rita Ora’s love than her husband’s love for her family and her Kosovar-Albanian roots. In one of the new songs, Rita Ora describes her relationship with her mother. The song is also about the fact that her mother has always encouraged her in life. She remembers one moment in particular: “When my mother came to England and raised me and my sister, she did not let us feel the circumstances.” This was an amazing act of her parents.
Rita Ora comes to Switzerland
Eleven years ago, the British hit their breakthrough with the song “Hot Right Now.” The song topped the UK Singles Chart. She still remembers the feeling at the time: “When the song came out, I thought I did it.” She couldn’t believe she had come this far as a girl from West London.
Last year, the singer performed in Zurich open air in Romalang. Now Rita Ora will come to Switzerland again, where she will present her new album. On Saturday, August 5th, you will be on stage at the “Stars in Town” festival in Schaffhausen.
