Germany: Knabel resigns from the board of directors of Gelsenkirchen

Peter Knappel, former coach of the Swiss Football Association, is not available for another spell at Schalke. The 57-year-old joined FC Gelsenkirchen in April 2018 as Director of Youth and Development. Three years later he was appointed to the board of directors. Schalke, who were relegated again after last season and just one year after being promoted to the Bundesliga, are struggling in the second highest division. The Ruhr team is currently ranked third to last in the classification.

England: Manchester City records record revenues

Three-time defending champion Manchester City achieved revenues of 712.8 million pounds (about 788 million francs) last season. This equates to 110 million francs more than in the same period last year. The Champions League winner and English football champion also announced, in his annual report for the 2022/23 season, record profits amounting to 88.9 million francs, on Wednesday. This is a healthy increase of 46 million francs, which is double what it was in the last 12 months.
