Four months after the first coronavirus vaccination in the United States, more than half of adults there received at least one dose, according to the CDC. 50.4 percent of adults – about 130 million people – had given at least one dose by Sunday, according to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control.
Almost every adult is completely vaccinated. In the particularly endangered age group 65 and over, 81 percent received a first dose, and about two-thirds were fully vaccinated.
The White House Coronavirus Working Group announced that an average of more than three million vaccines are being provided per day. In total, nearly 210 million doses of coronavirus were injected into the country with about 330 million people. To date, more than 264 million packages have been delivered. The first dose of the vaccine in the United States was given to a nurse in New York on December 14, 2020.
Biden and Harris claim vaccination
From Monday onwards, all Americans 16 years of age and over have the right to schedule a vaccination. US President Joe Biden called on residents in a video message for the vaccination. “We all want to return to normal life in America. The way to this normalcy is vaccination,” said Anthony Fauci, Biden advisor on the Coronavirus.
“The President and I urge you to vaccinate. It will protect you, your loved ones, your neighbors and your community,” Vice President Kamala Harris wrote on Twitter.
Most vaccinations are performed in the United States using the active ingredients of the US companies Moderna and Pfizer, and the latter developed the preparation with its German partner, Biontech. Vaccinations containing the active ingredient from the US pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson have been suspended after six cases of venous thrombosis were reported in the United States. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine only needs to be injected once to be fully effective; The other two drugs require two doses.
In Switzerland, it may take a few weeks or months before all who wish to be vaccinated can book an appointment. For a long time there was talk of the end of June – now it should be more than August. According to the BAG, 1,966,485 doses were given by Wednesday. 732,812 people were fully vaccinated. (Man / SDA)
