Back from the USA: Jan Kistenmacher is looking for the next feature
Neopin. On Thursday, Jan Kistenmacher was still suffering from a bit of timing fatigue and the consequences of the time difference. “Actually a little more,” admits the MSV Neurouppin trainer. But by Saturday, when his comrades greet SC Staaken at Volksparkstadion (2pm) in the third round of the NOFV-Oberliga Nord, “Kiste” should be fit as well. The head coach spent a good six weeks on his long-planned vacation in the USA, touring the Land of Unlimited Opportunities with his family. “We saw so many great things, I can’t even say what was the highlight of the trip,” Kistenmacher explains.

His team has already delivered two of the highlights in the first two games of the new season. A week ago, a clear 3-0 win over FC Mecklenburg Schwerin was followed by points shared in Charlottenburg’s Hertha 06 – a contender who undoubtedly belongs to the expanding pool of promotion candidates. MSV led twice, DC tied twice, coming in 2:2 in just the 87th minute.

We have coordinated well and discussed the concept beforehand. The last matches of the second half of the season have already shown the way we wanted to go ”, confirms Jan Kestenmacher, who is not surprised by the good work of his assistants – and above all the work of assistant coach Mark Flohr and Vadis Lugens: “I was not on the site, but I did not go completely also. I followed the match against Schwerin live on my cell phone and was in touch with the coaching staff and all the players anyway.”
Boxmaker: ‘The enemy will not underestimate us’
The team should note that their coach is busy with them – whether at Neuruppin on the training ground or on the other side of the pond. “It was an exceptional situation, but everyone involved has faithfully mastered it,” Kistenmacher says. He has seen that many things are already starting well, that many new characters fit together well and that something is growing together. Despite the intense intensity of the sessions during the week, the mood was very calm, with the four points initially giving the footballers from Fontanestadt a lot of self-confidence. “We have progressed well and we want to set the course, we have everything in our hands in every game,” asserts the coach, who will not complain if his team continues its committed performance.
With SC Staaken, in the year of Oberliga’s comeback they lost twice (1:4 and 0:3) to the Berlin team, the next ambitious task awaits MSV. “Stekin will also see our results. Kistenmacher believes the opponent will not underestimate us, ‘We want to play on equal terms.’” The 4:1 win at Optik Rathenow was followed by a 0:2 defeat against newly promoted Maccabi Berlin. What happens in Volspark will be decided this afternoon. Saturday For Jan Kistenmacher, there may be the next highlight to marvel at.
