Counter-Strike 2, the successor to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which has been hotly discussed in recent days, is due out this summer. This is a free upgrade to the first-person shooter CS: GO, which was released in 2012 and is based on Source Engine 2 and aims to usher in a “new era of Counter-Strike”. But how do players get into the limited beta testing phase?
Beta starts today with selected testers
PCGH explains how players can participate in the limited beta test of Valve’s new first-person shooter and what conditions must be met in order to be selected for it. Because the game developers reserve the right to decide which player is allowed to participate in the first limited testing phase.
The Counter-Strike 2 development team selects players based on several factors, according to the very detailed official Frequently asked questions about the limited beta testing phase An upcoming first-person shooter.
Confidence, status and playing time are important factors
The following factors are among others (but not limited to) in determining participation in the beta, according to Valve.
- Last game time on the official Valve servers
- Trust factor and Steam account status
- An account that has never been banned from CS:GO
Players selected in this way by the developers to participate in the Counter-Strike 2 limited testing period will receive a notification via the CS:GO main menu. After receiving the invitation, the testers selected in this way must click “Share” and thus start downloading the Counter-Strike 2 beta. The “Limited Trial” option starts the beta in the main menu of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Testers are selected and invited in waves
Gradually, Valve wants to invite more and more testers to the limited testing phase of Counter-Strike 2, which is why gamers should “check the CS: GO main menu regularly” if they receive an invitation.
Testers play deathmatch and competitive games
At the start of the limited testing phase, Deathmatch and non-rated competitive game mode will be played on Dust II. Other game modes are likely to follow later.
