A big heartbreak for star chef Heinz Winkler: As Bild reports, he passed away at the age of 73.
The German newspaper reported that Winkler collapsed in his private home in Aschau (Bavaria) on Friday evening. After the emergency doctor revived him, his condition suddenly worsened in the hospital. Due to the failure of several organs, he had to be placed in an artificial coma. Life-sustaining measures have been discontinued during the night.
Heinz Winkler had plans to back off
Actor Christian Wolff (84) and his wife Marina Wolfe also live in Aschau. Marina Wolff confirmed to the German newspaper: “We have just received news from his first wife Effie that Heinz has passed away. We are very upset. Heinz was a good friend.” The couple regularly visited the Residenz restaurant in Aschau. Accommodation is a five star hotel with a two star restaurant. Winkler’s son, Alexander (43), who was at the clinic with his father, has been the restaurant’s manager since 2012. His first wife is part of the management.
A few days ago, Winkler spoke to Bild about his future plans: “I would like to retire immediately, to Mallorca. In the winter in my apartment there and in the summer in my house.” (BSN)
