Lara Gut Bahrami shows her strength at the first opportunity. The 30-year-old from Ticino leads the standings after the first round of the giant slalom at Sölden.

Gott Bahrami, who won gold in this discipline at Cortina in February, had a poor lead. Second, American Michaela Schiffrin is only 200 behind the Swiss in the opening match of the World Cup on the Rettenbach glacier.

Austrian Stephanie Brunner followed in third, 0.54 seconds behind. Fourth is her ÖSV teammate Katharina Leinsberger (0.63 again). There are a total of seven riders within one second of the second round, which begins at 1:15 p.m.

Michel Gezen is 13th after 21 riders started. Engelburger, who had not experienced perfect preparation for the new World Cup season after suffering from glandular fever in the summer and decided to start at Sölden at short notice, lost 1.69 seconds to Gott Bahrami.
