In “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, Günther Jauch talks to his candidate about the “Dream Ship.” Neither of them seem to be big fans.

Cologne – Günter Jauch (67 years old) is known in the program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” For leading the show with so much humor and sarcasm. In the episode of Monday, May 13, the jokes came at the expense of the famous series “Das Traumschiff.” With a candidate, the moderator can't resist making fun of ZDF's broadcast. What would pop star Florian Silbereisen (42), who has been playing Captain Max Barger in films since 2019, have to say about that?

In the May 13 episode, candidate Philipp from Tritau, a town in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, sits in Gunther Jauch's “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” chair. As usual, TV presenter Günther Jauch also wants to know something about the candidate opposite him. Shortly before the tenth question, he showed a photo showing his daughter's father at work. Günter Jauch previously explained to the public: Candidate “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” He is a marine watch officer, i.e. a senior sailor on a cruise ship.

The photo shows the 34-year-old dressed as a sailor and wearing sunglasses on his face. Fans of the ZDF drama will quickly think of Florian Silbereisen – or other former “Das Traumschiff” leaders – when they see this. Anyway, this shot makes Günter Jauch smile instantly. “Somehow it feels like I'm pretending to be a dream ship,” the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” candidate immediately objects. Then Günter Jauch asks a question that was probably already on the tip of his tongue: “I was going to say anyway: when you see the dream ship, you just have to shake your head for an hour and a half, right?” I nod in agreement.

“Who wants to be a millionaire?” The candidate explains: This is why the film “Dream Ship” is completely unrealistic

Then Günter Jauch wants to know from Philipp: What is “completely wrong” with the ZDF dream ship compared to real life? Explains the filter “Who wants to be a millionaire?” The cruise has changed a lot. “In the past, a few decades ago, it was a bit more realistic. But now, what was promised to the captain as well as the behavior… it's not quite appropriate anymore,” stresses the quiz show candidate.

For safety reasons alone, some of what can be seen on the “Dream Ship” is not possible. “It's nice to play Holadreu, as in the cult series ZDF, according to Gautsch and his nominee, it is simply unrealistic. In the series you will “hit the bars non-stop.”

But despite the simple reality, not much has changed for fans of “The Dream Ship” – after all, the ZDF series is not so popular for its realistic cruise ship backgrounds, but for its dramatic and romantic stories.
