The weather service in Offenbach announced that strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and strong winds may occur in the northwestern half of Germany early Thursday. In the southwest and in the foothills of the Alps, strong thunderstorms with heavy rains are expected.
Meteorologists expect heavy rain
According to meteorologists, on Friday there will be not only gusts of wind in some areas, but also violent thunderstorms with occasional heavy rain. DWD expects more than 40 liters of rain per square meter in a short time or 60 to 80 liters in a few hours. In addition, according to the forecast, there will be hail and sometimes violent tornadoes.
Emilynd’s low trajectory remains uncertain
Meteorologists blame the “Imellinde” depression, which comes from the west through the Federal Republic of Germany to northeastern Germany. Due to the fact that the trajectory of the decline cannot be accurately predicted, there is still a certain degree of uncertainty regarding the worst affected areas.
According to DWD, there is less tendency for thunderstorms in the far north and south of the country. The weather is expected to calm down again on Saturday, but it will remain choppy with showers in the north. At the beginning of the new week, the state of the thunderstorm coming from the southwest is announced.
