The German hairball team won its second match in the World Cup in Calgary after a whirlwind of two cases of Corona.
Against the USA, DCV managed to achieve 8: 7. Initially, the selection, which was reduced from five to three players, lost 4: 8 to third place in the World Cup in Russia.
“We really enjoyed being there and showing that there are three of us too. Everything that comes after that is a huge bonus for us,” said Skip Daniela Jensh, who is just her sister.
Two players’ feet were tested positive
On Wednesday, DCV announced that two players from CC Füssen had tested positive for Corona. This affected Clara Hermine Foem and Amira Abbas, who were not allowed to roam on the ice on the first day.
Thanks to an exception, Germany was still competitive. Fomm and Abbes are still in quarantine. When it can be used again depends on additional test results.
The Women’s World Cup was supposed to be held from March 19-28 in Schaffhausen / Switzerland, but it had to be postponed due to the Corona pandemic. The stadium has been increased to 14 teams.
Switzerland and Sweden are the favorites for the World Cup
The defending champion is Switzerland with SCIP Silva Terenzoni, while Olympic champion Sweden, led by Anna Hasselberg, is one of the favorites.
The top six teams will qualify directly for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, and the remaining three tickets will be played for China in qualifiers from December 5-10.
The Olympic tournament was completed by the host.
