“Given the uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as the risks related to the development of the pandemic, the organizers have decided to focus exclusively on planning the event in Doha in 2023,” explained Maurice Turrettini, President of the Foundation. of the Geneva International Automobile Salons in a press release on Wednesday.
This decision was taken by members of the committee and the Board of Trustees at a meeting on Thursday in Bern. The Geneva Motor Show was originally scheduled to be held at Palexpo from 14-19 February 2023. The next event will be held in November 2023 in Doha, Qatar.
Speaking to Keystone-SDA news agency, Motor Show general manager Sandro Mesquita said that no decision had been made yet on the 2024 edition in Geneva: “However, the initial feedback is reassuring and the trend is positive. We expect a more interesting recovery for the auto sector. Late 2023 and early 2024.”
The Geneva Motor Show was last held in 2019. The show will now only last six days instead of ten.
