Gardner Moto2 World Champion – Schrötter in Valencia in 9th

Australian Remy Gardner (Calix) took the title in the 18th and final round of the Moto2 World Championship.

Cologne (SID) – Australian Remy Gardner (Calix) took the title in the 18th and final round of the Moto2 World Championships. Wayne Gardner’s son was the 10th 500cc (1987) champion in Valencia.

Rival Raul Fernandez (Calix) earned his eighth win in his rookie season, but he should be content with the runner-up title. Marcel Schröter (Filgertshofen) crossed the finish line in ninth place.

Gardner won a total of three fewer runs than Fernandes, but led more consistently. The 23-year-old only pulled out once and in the end was four points ahead of Fernandes. Next season, Gardner will switch to MotoGP, and switch to Team Tech 3 KTM. Schrötter (Calix) landed in tenth place overall.

In the Moto3 class, Spaniard Xavier Artigas won the last race of the year. The Honda driver started from 17th place.

Compatriot Pedro Acosta (KTM), who took the world title in the penultimate race in Portimao/Portugal, entered the last corner as leader, but fell after a maneuver overtaken by rival Denis Foggia (Italy/Honda). The world champion runner-up took a three-second penalty for this and was passed on for 13th.
