Games without limits
The inclusion award will be presented at Gamescom.
Games Without Borders has set itself the goal of promoting inclusion in the gaming sector. Young people are given the opportunity to meet their peers in interactive rooms and play current digital games at the same time. A variety of barrier-free consoles and other aids aim to allow participants with limitations to experience a selection of suitable games.
Along with teachers, young people also have one existing A list of games has been developed that can be adapted to specific needs. Titles are screened for hearing, vision, comprehension and control. The initiative’s website also includes an overview of technical aids aimed at gamers with disabilities, including adaptive controllers for Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
At Gamescom 2023, Gaming Without Borders organized an awards ceremony for the first time with its partner Congstar. Games and hardware that focused specifically on the theme of inclusion were selected. The award for Best International Game went to Lost & Hound. The awards ceremony will be held again in 2024 as part of Gamescom in Cologne. A total of five categories will be awarded: National Award, International Award, Acting Award, Hardware & Technology Award and Personality Award.
The awards ceremony will take place on August 21, 2024, during the Gamescom Trade Visitors Day at the Congstar Partner Pavilion. The award jury is made up of experts in the fields of gaming, research, education and journalism.
