How NBC Sports Reports said the 23-year-old professional footballer will start Sunday’s 100 meters at the U.S. Gold Track and Field and Open Distance Games in Walnut, California.
Metcalfe announced his entry into athletics in a short video on Twitter. In order to automatically qualify for the US Olympic Trials – the qualifying competitions for the Summer Games in Tokyo (July 23 to August 8) – the former hurdler must run 10.05 seconds. Under certain conditions, a time of 10.20 seconds (with no more than 2 meters from the tailwind) is sufficient for a place in the Olympic Qualifiers.

Metcalf is one of the fastest pass-recipients in the NFL, last season it was measured at a top speed of 36.44 km / h – with gear and helmet.
For comparison: Usain Bolt achieved an average speed of 37.58 km / h at a top speed of 44.72 km / h in his world record career (9.58 seconds) in 2009.
