Francine Jordi (45) is among the bad guys: the famous Swiss star sings the official anthem of the year at the Federal and Alpine Wrestling Festival in Prattelen BL. “Zäme ha – zäme stah” is the name of the ESAF song by the folk singer accompanied by the Christoph Walter Orchestra. There will also be Alvorn players Lisa Stoll (26) and Jodler Sepp Amstutz (56).
“I’ve always been a huge fan of wrestling and I’m proud to have a few ‘bad guys’ in my family,” says Francine Jordi. “On the part of my mother’s cousin there were and still are some active wrestlers. Among others, Marco Hadorn, who recently won a wreath, which makes me especially happy ”, said the singer.
When asked to write the song for the traditional event, she didn’t have to think long: “The atmosphere at the wrestling festival is unique,” Jordi enthuses. “Young and old come together, everyone is peaceful and positive. I really look forward to being able to experience this special atmosphere and tradition of the biggest folk festival up close again.”
“Coherence is more important today than ever.”
Composer and band leader Christoph Walter (55), who composed this year’s ESAF anthem “Zäme ha – zäme stah”, agrees. “With my song I wanted to show this wonderful solidarity in the wrestling and popular music scene,” Walter says. “Cohesion is more important today than ever. Not only in Switzerland, but all over Europe.” After years of pandemic and isolation, it is also important to get out and meet again. “It’s great to have a festival like Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival again, and I am proud to be able to contribute to my musical role.” “Francine’s wonderful voice tops it all.”
By the way, Jordi himself was already standing in sawdust. Against former great wrestler Adi Laimbacher (41). “Of course I didn’t have a chance,” she laughs. “But Uday was kind enough to let me put him in the sawdust. It’s really cool the power that emanates from speed and strength in this game.”
Francine Jordi and Christoph Walter Orchestra’s single “Zäme ha – zäme stah” will be released on Friday, July 15.
