FC Langenthal had to play the last game of the first league season 2020/21 without injury or ten players missing. Oberaargau defended themselves well against hopeful Bale, but lost 0:2 and slipped in the final standings to seventh.
FCL could have taken the lead at first. After a few seconds, Heric’s intrusive target was denied recognition. A penalty kick was not awarded in the second minute after a foul on the league’s top scorer, Labinot Azeri. The season’s 12-time top scorer played his penultimate match with Langenthal. He moves to league rival Delsberg in the summer. “We had good chances to score goals,” he said. “I should especially mention that we performed as a team.”
But after the scene in the penalty area, Bell quickly gained advantages. In the seventh minute, goalkeeper Santos de Carvalho had to throw everything in the balance with a shot from Bayer, before Kasaj defeated Langenthal’s goalkeeper to make the score 1-0.
The buildup had no effect on the landlords, although the Billers put a lot of pressure on them. 19 minutes later, Bayer again failed in the Langenthal goal. A little later, Azeri found his master in goalkeeper Bill Grifoot. The Langenthalers were lucky in the 44th minute, when Fleury tested the strength of the Langenthaler gate.
Langenthal’s efforts are futile
The start of the second round was formed by the guests. Santos de Carvalho handled the ball in front of the Bayer player. In another context, several ball losses crept into the Langenthalers, which the guests did not yet know how to use. However, coach Willie Neuschwander’s side never gave up, and at the moment more hits were blocked from the superior Beyler. In the 89th minute, Garcia made it 2-0 for the visitors.
Bill must win
For the Zeelanders, the promotion battle to the Promotion League is far from over. The first leg of GC II last Wednesday was canceled due to a storm and will be rescheduled for June 30. If Biel wins, he goes up next to YB II. If success fails, the second climber is called Wettswil-Bonstetten.
The season is not over for Langenthal either. On Saturday July 3rd, he will face FCL Chênois in the Qualifier Cup. The winner of the main first round.
