Defending champions Inter Milan won the Italian Cup again. In the final, “Nrazzurri” turned the match against Fiorentina and won 2-1. Less than 3 minutes later, Florence took the lead, thanks to Nicolas Gonzalez. A double shot by Lautaro Martinez (29/37) put Inter back in the game and eventually won the ninth title in the club’s history. This places the Milan side with second-placed Roma on the all-time list, 5 wins behind Juventus. On June 10, Inter has a chance to claim a second Champions League title, while Fiorentina is still in the Conference League final (June 7).
After the championship title, Steven Zuber also won the cup with AEK Athens. In the final match, the team of the Greek capital defeated PAOK Thessaloniki 2-0. Shortly before the end of the match, Zuber released his teammate Paulo Fernandez, who explained everything with the second goal. After 4 final defeats between 2017 and 2020, this was Athens’ first cup win since 2016 and the third double victory after 1939 and 1978.
