Wolfsburg (dpa) – Before the last game of the Wolfsburg football team and the move to the USA, national football goalkeeper Almuth Schulte did not object to a subsequent return in the German Women’s League. “Of course it is not out of the question to play in Germany again, but there are not many clubs in Germany that I would play for,” the 31-year-old said on Tuesday’s media tour.
Schulte will move to the United States for the new season with Angel City Football Club, which was founded this year by Hollywood stars such as Natalie Portman. “It’s a gift when you play Manuel Neuer and Gigi Buffon,” she said. “But we’ve seen enough examples of how quickly you can wind up with an injury or other career move.”
On Saturday (4.45pm / ARD) the DFB Cup final between the women of Wolfsburg and Turbine Potsdam will be held in Cologne. Schulte managed to win the cup with the green team for the eighth time in a row. “Eight times in a row is an incredible streak second to none. It only happens in very few sports,” Schulte said.
