With this, Fnac wants to gain a foothold in German-speaking Switzerland after a failed first attempt.
The planned Fnac stores will operate within Manor stores of up to 1,000 square meters, according to a joint media statement on Tuesday. Products from the fields of home electronics and multimedia, as well as books and stationery, will be presented. In addition, Fnac will also be represented on the Manor online store from 2022.
Fnac and Manor began beta testing at four branches in western Switzerland last fall. Cedric Stasi, President of Fnac Switzerland, told AWP that the decision to expand the partnership was made after analyzing sales, profitability and customer satisfaction.
The goal is to achieve additional sales of at least 100 million euros annually and 200 to 300 additional jobs to be created in Switzerland. The new jobs will be distributed between headquarters, branches and logistics.
By the end of 2021, stores are scheduled to open in ten more Manor stores in western Switzerland. An additional 13 stores in Switzerland and German-speaking Ticino will follow in 2022.
Fnac Swiss made its first attempt to expand into German-speaking Switzerland a little over ten years ago, when it opened its own store in Basel. However, this attempt was halted again after a short time. At the time, the company blamed the shutdown on lack of sales and low profitability.
