Fixed Size in Natty – Rodriguez: Peerless Left Out – Sport

Ricardo Rodriguez has been an integral part of the Swiss national team for years. He was also named club captain.

Since making his debut in 2011, Ricardo Rodriguez has 84 caps for Switzerland. The 30-year-old is also at left-back under Murat Yakin. First of all, of course, because the Torino player is consistently performing well. The fact that Rodriguez has practically no competition for this position certainly plays into his hands.

For me, this is not a huge change.

Although he didn’t want to leave it that way. “At the beginning of my time in the national team, I was definitely competitive. Other players can also take this attitude. I always try to do my best, always,” he said as part of the build-up to the start of the European Championship qualifiers.

You can follow the start of the European Championship qualifiers for the Swiss national team live on SRF:

  • Saturday, March 25, 5:15 p.m.: Belarus – Switzerland (Beginning of the match: 6 pm)
  • Tuesday, March 28, 8:25 p.m.: Switzerland – Israel (Beginning of the match: 20:45)

Rodriguez is also a regular fixture at his current club FC Torino as captain on the left wing. However, he mainly plays in a back three there, while national team coach Yakin relies on a back four.

However, for the veteran Rodriguez, this does not play a major role: “I have been playing in the defense four in the national team for years, I can do it now. And for me it is not a big change anymore.

Contract ends – are you going to Spain?

Rodriguez turns 31 on August 25, and his contract with the Italian Serie A club expires in the summer. It would actually be the perfect time to embark on a new adventure. It’s no secret that Rodriguez would have provoked La Liga.

But he is discreet, as always: “I haven’t thought about it yet. First I want to finish the season, then we’ll see.”
