FitTrackee - Self-Hosted Activity Tracker

FitTrackee – Self-Hosted Activity Tracker

Thursday 8 September 2022, Martin

Many amateur athletes want their activities to be clearly collected, stored in one place and evaluated. There are many service providers that offer this service “for free”. Of course, as is often the case, you pay with your data stored there.

An alternative that I started using recently is the self-hosted FitTrackee web app.

The web app is still under extensive development (currently version 0.6.11) but is already stable at this time and includes many exciting functions such as:

  • 11 different sports
  • Dashboard with monthly calendar showing workouts and records (see picture 1)
  • Create a manual training, automatically by uploading a gpx file or a zip file with several registered gpx paths.
  • View the training in a map based on OSM as well as a velocity and altitude chart (see image 2)
  • Various stats like duration, courses, ascent and descent, average speed after weeks, months and years
  • Filter options to search your training database

Multiple users can be created and managed, but I haven’t tested these functions because I’m using the dashboard for myself.

The app is standing github Also available docker version. Good and detailed documentation for installation can also be found on the project page.

There’s no dedicated mobile app for logging tracks, but privacy-friendly tracking apps like OpenTracks or OSMand help with that.

Enjoy moving and analyzing!
