In Franklinville, New Jersey, firefighters saved the life of a dog whose head was stuck in a wagon wheel.
Firefighters in the US state of New Jersey made unremitting efforts to rescue a dog whose head got stuck in a cart wheel.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that during an operation, members of the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Fighting Unit encountered an 11-month-old Labrador named Daisy, who was unable to free himself from his predicament.
The photos show that the animal's neck was surrounded by the edge of the car. The firefighters quickly came up with a plan, but it didn't work. Firefighter Brandon Volpe said, according to the report, that they initially tried to free the dog using dishwashing liquid and water.
However, Daisy was “pretty stuck.” So they tried vegetable oil, which didn't work either. Finally, Volpe and his colleagues wrapped plastic wrap around the hapless female's neck, hoping the oil and detergent would provide enough slip. This did not bring any improvement either.
Then Volpe remembered that he had a special plasma torch for cutting steel and metal. So the team headed with Daisy to his garage. The animal “got a little spooked” by the use of the tools, Volpe said. To protect her, the fire department placed a fire blanket over Daisy's head and neck. The plasma cutter turned things around, and within five minutes Daisy was free.
