Australian Open top seeds Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Goff have advanced to the quarter-finals and will go into a head-to-head showdown in the semi-finals. Defending champion Sabalenka eased off her round of 16 challenge against American Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday, and US Open champion Goff had no trouble against Magdalena Frech 6-1, 6-2.

Sabalenka (25), who won his only Grand Slam title to date in Melbourne a year ago, is in top form in his first major of the year and has not lost a set in four matches. “I'm happy with my level. I want to stay here until the last day,” said the Belarusian.

It was the first time the 19-year-old Goff had reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne. “It's great to overcome this obstacle. I hope I can keep going and achieve more,” said Goff, who now faces Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk. The American is also in impressive form having already convincingly defended his title at the WTA tournament in Auckland earlier this year.
