The resigned Austrian chancellor, Sebastian Kurz (35), takes a management position in the USA: he will become a “global strategist” at Thiel Capital, a company owned by investor Peter Thiel (54). This is what Kurz told the Austrian newspaper “today”.
In the past few days there has been speculation that Kurz could start at US data analytics firm Palantir. But Jan Hissrich, Palantir’s head of strategy and communications in Europe, clarified that “Sebastian Kurz will not be working at Palantir.”
One Trump supporter in Silicon Valley
The rumors weren’t entirely false, as Thiel was one of the founders of Palantir and was the company’s long-term chairman. Additionally, Thiel founded the payment provider PayPal with Elon Musk and was Facebook’s first external donor. In addition, Thiel was one of the few supporters of former US President Donald Trump in Silicon Valley.
In 2021, Thiel will be honored with the Frank Schirrmacher Prize, awarded since 2015 for outstanding achievements in understanding current affairs and intended to commemorate publicist Frank Schirmacher, who died in 2014. Kurz gave a speech of praise at the awards ceremony in October. (No)
