  • Dane Rasmus Höglund scored three goals when they met Finland again.
  • England narrowly beat Italy 2-1.

Group X: Ronaldo breaks the next record

  • Portugal 4-0 Liechtenstein

He was already the international record goalscorer, and now Cristiano Ronaldo is the only record player. The 38-year-old captained Portugal against Liechtenstein and earned his 197th cap. Ronaldo previously shared the record with Kuwaiti Bader Al-Mutawa. When Roberto Martinez, the national team coach, made his debut, Ronaldo also scored twice. He first converted a penalty (51), before scoring a free kick about an hour later to make it 4-0.

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0 Iceland

Iceland have missed the last two major tournaments. Now the island nation failed to get off to a good start in qualifying for Euro 2024. Coach Arnar Thor Vidarsson’s side didn’t have much to throw away in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After just 40 minutes, two goals from Arne Krunic, the visitors were trailing 2-0. After the break, Amar Didic finally put the lid on it.

  • Slovakia 0-0 Luxembourg

It was also a bitter disappointment for Slovakia. Against a “football dwarf” from Luxembourg with former YP player Christopher Martins as captain, the favorites didn’t get past a goalless draw.

Group H: Shooting star Höglund makes Denmark celebrate

  • Denmark 3-1 Finland

In their first meeting since the disastrous group game at Euro 2021 and the collapse of Christian Eriksen, Denmark managed to celebrate with three points. At the same venue but without the injured Eriksen, Rasmus Höglund became the winner of the match. The 20-year-old forward scored just three times in his third cap and fired single-handedly into the opposition. Meanwhile, Oliver Antmann equalized to make it 1-1 Finland (53rd).

  • Kazakhstan 1-2 Slovenia
  • San Marino 0-2 Northern Ireland
