ETH Zurich continues to be one of the top universities, as the latest “Times Higher Education” magazine’s ranking of the top 200 universities in the world appears. Although it lost one rank last year, it is still ranked 15th among the best universities in the world. It is still the highest ranked university outside the USA and Great Britain.

Swiss universities score the best training
The University of Zurich is also one of the best universities in the world. It occupies 75th place and thus loses two places. The University of Bern, which is ranked 101st in the ranking, barely managed to make it into the top 100 universities. But Bernays increased eight places compared to the previous year.
The University of Lausanne is also great: it jumped from 191 to 176, while Basel and Geneva lost places. Basel now ranks 103rd, and the university previously was 92nd. Geneva also lost: the training center dropped from 149th to 197th.
Best accommodation in the US and UK
The top ten remained unchanged compared to 2020. Oxford University topped the rankings for the sixth time in a row. The California Institute of Technology and Harvard University – both from the United States – share the second place.
The assessment of universities is based on a total of 13 indicators that take into account teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and the international orientation of institutions. The Times Higher Education Ranking includes a list of 1,662 universities in 99 countries that are the most diverse and the largest in the world. The magazine said that many universities have moved up the rankings this year thanks to their successes in coronavirus research. (SDA/CNR)
