Winterthur electric truck breaks world record
An electronic truck from the Winterthur Futuricum brand has traveled 1,099 kilometers without intermediate charging. This is a new world record.
The electric truck from the Winterthur brand Futuricum was on the road for 23 hours on the 2.8 kilometer test track near Hanover. Then it was done and the world record for the longest distance traveled by an electric truck was broken at 1,099 kilometers – without the battery being charged in between.
DPD Switzerland, Futuricum and tire manufacturer Continental contributed to the record. Designwerk Products in Winterthur is behind Futuricum. For the record, Futuricum has converted a Volvo truck into an electric motor. “With a capacity of 680 kWh, the truck had Europe’s largest truck battery on board,” Adrian Meliger, managing director of Designwerk Products AG, said in a press release on Tuesday.
Two drivers were driving 4.5-hour shifts at an average speed of 50 km/h. According to the ad, this corresponds to a realistic average value in daily use.
