Like her predecessor, Peter Gerber, Dorothea von Boksberg is moving from Lufthansa Cargo to Brussels Airlines. In mid-April, the director will take over the top position in Belgium.
In March 2021, Peter Gerber took over as the new President. The manager moved from Lufthansa Cargo to Brussels Airlines. But Gerber did not stay with the Belgian company Lufthansa for long. At the end of January 2023, aeroTELEGRAPH reported for the first time that he would be leaving the group after nearly 30 years and would become the new head of Condor in 2024.
It is now clear who will follow Gerber to Brussels. It’s Dorothea von Boksburg, whom Gerber once inherited as head of Lufthansa Freight. On April 15, she will become the new president of the Belgian airline. There she also holds the position of Accredited Representative to the Executive Board of the European Commission of the Lufthansa Group.
With Lufthansa Cargo since 2015
“I am very pleased that together with Dorothea von Boksberg, an accomplished and experienced airline director from our ranks takes over the management position at Brussels Airlines,” says Christina Vorster, Member of the Board of Directors, who is also currently serving as Interim President of Brussels Airlines. “With her extensive knowledge and understanding of airlines and passengers, she will continue to lead the successful transformation of Belgium’s national airline Brussels Airlines in the years to come.”
Born in 1974, von Boksberg began her professional career in 1999 at the Boston Consulting Group. In 2007 she moved to the Lufthansa Group, where she held various management positions. For example, she and her team introduced a new generation of business class seats. In 2015, she moved to Lufthansa Cargo, where she will become Director of Lufthansa Cargo in 2021. It is not yet clear who will follow her in Lufthansa’s freight division.
Three consecutive record years
Under von Boksberg’s leadership, Lufthansa Cargo has been the most successful part of the Lufthansa Group during the pandemic. “In the past fiscal year, we achieved record results for the third time in a row,” the director said at the beginning of March when the annual figures for 2022 were presented.
